San Sebastián Film Festival Celebrates 73rd Edition with Global Line-Up

The 73rd San Sebastián International Film Festival has started in Spain. It will run from September 19 to 27 and show 292 films with a star-studded international cast.

Daniel Hendler from Argentina’s 27 Nights will start the festival, and Winter of the Crow will end it. Spain has a lot of competitors this year, including Alberto Rodríguez, José Luis Guerín, and Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, who are all vying for the Golden Shell.

There are world premieres like Palestine 36 and Un fantasma en la batalla, as well as new works by Richard Linklater, Noah Baumbach, Yorgos Lanthimos, and Jafar Panahi in the Perlak section.

The Donostia Awards will be given to Spanish producer Esther García for her 40-year career and Jennifer Lawrence, who will also show her new movie Die My Love by Lynne Ramsay. The festival’s poster pays tribute to the late actress Marisa Paredes, who was a muse for Pedro Almodóvar for a long time.

San Sebastián is still one of the most important film festivals in Europe. It is known for mixing glamour with world cinema and showcasing both well-known directors and new voices.
