Leonardo DiCaprio in “One Battle After Another”
Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest collaboration with director Paul Thomas Anderson is already attracting glowing praise ahead of its release. “One Battle After Another”, an action-comedy adapted from Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, has been hailed as one of the most inventive films of 2025 by early viewers.
Among its biggest admirers is Steven Spielberg, who called the film “incredible” during a Q&A at the Director’s Guild of America. “What an insane movie, oh my God,” Spielberg told Anderson. “There is more action in the first hour of this than every other film you’ve ever directed put together.”
The story follows ex-revolutionary Bob Ferguson (played by DiCaprio) as he raises his teenage daughter (Chase Infiniti), only to be hunted down by an old enemy (Sean Penn). Spielberg compared its absurdist humor to Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, saying the film allows audiences to laugh at the unsettling realities it reflects.
One Battle After Another is set to hit theaters in the coming weeks and is already shaping up as one of the year’s most talked-about releases.
